Sowing Carrots in a HOT climate

We all know that carrots love the cold- growing them in a place like central florida can be tricky as we have to start them in warmer weather. Here’s what I do to have higher germination rates.

* First I’ll dig two trenches and scatter my carrot seeds generously because they will be thinned. *

I’ll cover my carrots and take two bricks and place them at the end of each of my covered trenches.*

on top of the bricks I’ll place two pieces of wood. This is to ensure that after I water the carrots the sun doesn’t immediately evaporate the water out of the soil.

*once you see germination you can remove the boards. *

This can also be done with cardboard! Check on your carrots around 4-7 days for germination! :)

Again, this is not necessary for colder zones. Knowing your climate and how and when to plant can be tricky!

Really smart! I’m way North of you but it’s a struggle here too with the heat.
